OnlyFans Creator Requirements: What You Need to Open an Account

Opening an OnlyFans account as a fan takes minutes. Becoming a creator who can earn takes a little more: OnlyFans checks your age and identity, needs your payout and tax details, and has rules about anyone else who appears in your content. Here's what to have ready before you start.

Editorial note: Based on the OnlyFans Terms of Service as checked on 8 October 2026 and the VANTA team's experience helping creators set up. OnlyFans' help pages weren't publicly accessible when we checked, and requirements can change, so follow the steps shown in your account.

What are the requirements to become an OnlyFans creator?

You must be at least 18 and the age of majority where you live, verify your identity with a valid government photo ID and a selfie or similar check, add a payout method in your own name, and provide tax information. Anyone else who appears in your content must also be verified and consent.

How old do you have to be?

At least 18, and old enough to be an adult where you live if the age of majority is higher. OnlyFans' terms require creators to be adults and verifies age as part of sign-up. Content involving anyone under 18 is illegal and banned, and the platform reports it.

What ID do you need for OnlyFans?

You'll usually need a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, driving licence or national ID card, plus a selfie or live check to show you're the person on the ID. The name on your ID should match your payout details. Accepted documents can vary by country.

Do you need a bank account?

You need a payout method in your own legal name to withdraw earnings. Options depend on your country. The name must match your verified identity, so you can't use a partner's, friend's or agency's account. See how OnlyFans payouts work.

What tax information does OnlyFans ask for?

US creators usually complete a Form W-9 with their legal name and SSN or EIN. Most non-US creators complete a W-8BEN to confirm they're not US taxpayers. You're still responsible for tax where you live. See how to fill out the OnlyFans W-9.

What if other people appear in your content?

Anyone who appears in your content must be an adult, consent, and be verified with OnlyFans, either with their own creator account or through the platform's process for co-performers. You need their consent before posting and should keep records. This applies to partners and friends too.

Can you use a stage name?

Yes. Your public display name and username can be a stage name, and most creators use one. Your legal name is used privately for verification, payouts and tax, and isn't shown on your profile. Choose a stage name with no link to your real identity. See how to choose a stage name.

Do you need followers or equipment to start?

No. There's no follower requirement, and a recent smartphone with a decent camera is enough to start. What matters more is a plan for content, pricing and promotion, plus enough content ready to post in your first weeks so new fans see an active page. See our OnlyFans launch checklist for what to prepare before you go live.

Can an agency set up your account for you?

An agency can help you plan and prepare, but you must create and verify the account yourself, in your own name, with your own ID and payout details. OnlyFans' terms make you responsible for your account. See does OnlyFans allow agencies?.

Before you start:

How long does approval take?

Verification is often quick, but it can take longer if your documents need manual review or something doesn't match. There's no guaranteed timeframe. If it's taking a long time or gets rejected, check that the details you submitted match exactly across your ID, payout and tax information. See OnlyFans verification rejected or stuck?.

What content rules apply from day one?

Everything you post must follow OnlyFans' terms and the law where you live. That includes no content involving anyone under 18, no one who hasn't consented and been verified, nothing that breaks the platform's prohibited-content rules, and labels on any AI-generated content. Read the current terms before posting.
