What Does "Top %" Mean on OnlyFans?
Some OnlyFans profiles show a badge saying the creator is in the "top 1%" or "top 5%" of all creators. Agencies often quote these badges as proof of success. It's worth understanding what the number likely means, what OnlyFans has and hasn't said about it, and why it tells you less than it seems.
Editorial note: Based on how the badge appears on OnlyFans profiles and the VANTA team's experience, checked on 8 October 2026. OnlyFans doesn't publish how the percentage is calculated, so parts of this post are necessarily general.
What does "top %" mean on OnlyFans?
The badge shows that a creator ranks within a given top percentage of creators on OnlyFans, such as the top 1% or top 5%. It's widely understood to reflect earnings relative to other creators, but OnlyFans doesn't publish the exact formula, time period or thresholds. Treat it as a rough indicator, not a precise measure.
How is the OnlyFans top percentage calculated?
OnlyFans hasn't published the calculation. It's generally believed to compare a creator's earnings with other creators over a recent period, but the exact period, whether it includes all income types, and how often it updates aren't public. Anyone who claims to know the precise formula is guessing.
| What we know | What isn't public |
|---|---|
| The badge appears on some creator profiles | The exact formula |
| It shows a top percentage, such as 1% or 5% | The time period it covers |
| It's widely understood to reflect earnings | Which income types count |
| It can change over time | How often it updates |
Does top 1% mean a creator earns a lot?
Not necessarily in absolute terms. Being in the top 1% means ranking above most creators, but OnlyFans reported around 5 million creator accounts in the year to November 2025, and many earn very little. A top-percentage badge says nothing exact about income. See OnlyFans statistics.
Can creators hide the top percentage badge?
Creators have generally been able to choose whether the ranking shows on their profile, through their account settings. Check your own settings for the current option. Some creators hide it for privacy or because they don't want fans focusing on rankings.
Does the top percentage help you get found?
Not directly. OnlyFans' built-in discovery is limited, so most fans find creators through outside promotion on social platforms and communities. A badge may reassure some visitors who reach your profile, but it won't bring them there, and it isn't something fans can search or filter by. See how people find you on OnlyFans.
Why shouldn't you judge an agency by top percentages?
Because the badge isn't independently verifiable, doesn't show how much a creator earned or kept, can reflect a creator's own audience rather than an agency's work, and can be screenshotted selectively. Agencies that lead with "top 0.1%" claims rarely explain what changed or what it cost.
Better evidence to ask for:
- What the agency actually does day to day.
- How commission is calculated and what it's based on.
- Sample monthly reports, anonymised.
- Contract terms: notice, ownership, access.
- How they measure results, honestly.
See how to read OnlyFans agency reviews and what a good monthly report includes.
Should you aim for a top percentage?
It's better to aim for things you control: consistent posting, strong retention, good messaging and steady growth in net earnings. The badge may follow, but it's an outcome of those things, not a goal in itself. Chasing a ranking can push creators into pressure tactics that hurt fans and retention.
Why do top percentages change?
Because the badge compares you with other creators over a period, it moves when your earnings change or when other creators' earnings change. A quiet month, a big promotion by others or seasonal patterns can all shift it. That's another reason not to treat a single screenshot as proof of anything.
Can a top percentage be faked?
Screenshots can be edited, cropped or taken at an unusually good moment, and badges can't be checked independently by outsiders. Treat screenshots in agency marketing with caution. If someone uses one to persuade you, ask what it measures, when it was taken and what it shows about money kept after fees.
What metrics matter more than the badge?
Net earnings after fees, renewal rate, new subscribers by source, revenue per fan, refunds and chargebacks, and hours spent. These tell you whether your page is healthy and growing. Your OnlyFans statistics and any agency's monthly report should show them clearly.
