Can You Geo-Block on OnlyFans? How Location Blocking Works and Its Limits

Geo-blocking is the first privacy setting most new creators look for: a way to stop people in your home town, or your whole country, from finding your page. It's useful, and you should probably turn it on. But it has limits that matter, and treating it as a guarantee is how people get caught out.

Editorial note: Based on the VANTA team's experience setting up creator accounts and on how IP-based location blocking works in general. OnlyFans' help centre wasn't available to automated checks when we wrote this, so menu names may differ slightly in your account. General information only.

Can you geo-block on OnlyFans?

Yes. OnlyFans lets creators block visitors from chosen countries, and in the US from individual states, through the account's privacy and safety settings. Blocked visitors can't view your profile. Blocking is based on the visitor's apparent location, worked out from their internet connection, which is why it can be bypassed.

It's worth setting up before you post anything, because it costs nothing and stops casual discovery by people in the places you choose.

How does OnlyFans geo-blocking work?

When someone visits your profile, OnlyFans estimates their location from their IP address, the network address their device uses to connect. If that location is on your blocked list, they can't see your page. The estimate is usually accurate to country level, less so for smaller regions, and it can be wrong.

That means three things in practice:

  1. It's location-based, not person-based. It blocks a place, not a specific person. To stop one person, use the block feature on their account as well.
  2. It depends on the visitor's connection. Someone travelling or using a different network may appear to be somewhere else.
  3. It only covers OnlyFans. It doesn't affect your social media, Reddit posts or anything shared elsewhere.

What should you block on OnlyFans?

Block the places where people who know you are most likely to be: your home country or state, where you grew up, where family live, and where you work or study. If those areas also hold many potential fans, weigh the privacy benefit against the lost audience. Privacy usually wins for creators who want to stay anonymous.

Does a VPN get around OnlyFans geo-blocking?

Yes. A VPN or proxy makes a visitor appear to be in another location, so someone in a blocked area can still reach your profile. That's the main weakness of any IP-based block. Treat geo-blocking as a filter against casual discovery, not as protection from someone deliberately looking for you.

Because of this, the steps below matter as much as the block itself.

What else should you do to stay private on OnlyFans?

Combine geo-blocking with a stage name, separate email and phone number, photos stripped of location data, and backgrounds nobody can recognise. Keep creator and personal social accounts completely separate. The aim is that even someone who reaches your page can't connect it to your real identity or address.

A privacy checklist to pair with geo-blocking:

The full set of security steps is in our creator privacy and account security guide.

Does geo-blocking hide you from search engines and social media?

No. Geo-blocking only controls who can view your OnlyFans profile. Your posts on Reddit, X, Instagram or TikTok are visible wherever those platforms are, and links to your page can appear in search results. If you promote publicly, assume people in blocked regions may see your promotion even though they can't open your page.

This is why creators who want strict anonymity also change how they promote. See how to promote OnlyFans anonymously.

How do you test that your geo-block is working?

You can't easily test it yourself from inside a blocked region, because your own account can see your profile. A simple check is to ask someone you trust in a blocked area to try opening your profile link while logged out. Review your blocked list whenever you move, travel for long periods or change where you promote.

Does geo-blocking stop leaks?

No. Geo-blocking can keep some people off your page, but anyone who can view your content can save it and share it, including people outside your blocked regions. If your content leaks, use takedown notices to get it removed. Our step-by-step guide to removing leaked OnlyFans content covers the process.

Will geo-blocking reduce your earnings?

It can, if you block a large market. A UK creator blocking the UK loses UK fans; a US creator blocking several states loses those fans. Whether that matters depends on where your audience is and how much privacy you need. For most creators who want anonymity, the trade-off is worth it.

A good management team should treat privacy settings as your decision, not a lever to pull for growth. At VANTA, the privacy settings you choose stay in place unless you decide to change them, and creators keep their own login and full access.

Frequently asked questions

Can I block a specific city on OnlyFans?

OnlyFans offers blocking by country and, in the US, by state. City-level blocking isn't generally available, and IP location is less accurate at city level anyway. Block the wider region and add the other privacy steps above.

Can someone see my OnlyFans if I blocked their country?

Not if they're browsing from that country without a VPN or proxy. With a VPN they may be able to see it. Content shared elsewhere, such as leaks or your social posts, isn't affected by the block.

Can I geo-block the UK on OnlyFans?

Yes. You can block the UK as a country. UK-based creators often do this when most of their fans are elsewhere, such as in the US. Remember that UK visitors using a VPN may still get through.

Does OnlyFans geo-blocking work on the app and the website?

The block applies to your profile, so it's designed to work however someone tries to view it. Because it relies on the visitor's IP location, VPNs and some networks can affect how reliably it works.

Does VANTA set up privacy settings for creators?

Privacy set-up can be part of onboarding with VANTA. The settings you choose are your decision, and creators keep their own login and full access to their account at all times.
