Fanvue vs OnlyFans: Which Platform Is Better for Creators?
Fanvue and OnlyFans look similar on the surface: subscriptions, paid messages, tips and a 20% platform fee. The differences are in audience size, payout rules, how each treats AI-generated content, and how fans find you. This comparison uses each platform's published terms, so you can decide on facts rather than marketing.
Editorial note: Based on the OnlyFans Terms of Service, Fanvue's published creator policies and the operator's annual accounts, all checked on 8 October 2026, plus the VANTA team's experience. Platform terms change often, so check both before you decide. We compare platforms only and have no commercial relationship with either.
What is the difference between Fanvue and OnlyFans?
Both are subscription platforms where creators earn from subscriptions, pay-per-view messages, tips and customs. OnlyFans is far larger and better known to fans. Fanvue is smaller and newer, publishes detailed creator policies, offers promotional earning rates to some new creators, and openly accommodates AI-generated creators with clear disclosure.
| OnlyFans | Fanvue | |
|---|---|---|
| Standard platform fee | 20% of fan payments | 20% of gross revenue (standard rate) |
| Promotional rates | None stated in its terms | Temporary higher creator share may be offered to some new creators |
| Pending period | Not stated in its terms; typically around a week | 7 days standard, up to 28 days |
| Payout processing | Not stated in its terms | Aims to start valid payouts within 10 business days |
| Currency | USD | Check in account |
| AI-generated content | Allowed only if it complies with its terms and is clearly labelled (#ai or #AIGenerated) | Allowed with clear disclosure |
| Audience size | Very large: 437.1 million registered fan accounts in the year to 30 November 2025 | Smaller; no audited figures published in the same way |
| Chargeback penalties | Deducts your share of refunds and chargebacks | Deducts refunds and chargebacks; may charge $50 per dispute above a 1.5% rate |
Which takes a bigger cut, Fanvue or OnlyFans?
At standard rates, neither: both keep 20% and pay creators 80%. Fanvue's policy allows temporary promotional rates that raise the creator's share for some new creators, and partnership rates agreed case by case. OnlyFans' terms state a flat 20% fee. Check Fanvue's current promotional terms, as they can change.
Remember to compare the money you keep after all costs, not just the headline fee. Chargeback penalties, currency conversion and payout fees all matter. If you work with an agency, its commission comes on top; ours is explained in our commission guide.
Illustrative example: a fan spends $100 on each platform at standard rates.
| OnlyFans | Fanvue (standard rate) | |
|---|---|---|
| Fan payment | $100 | $100 |
| Platform fee (20%) | $20 | $20 |
| Your earnings before any other costs | $80 | $80 |
| Then deducted, if applicable | Refunds and chargebacks; bank and currency fees | Refunds and chargebacks; possible dispute fee above 1.5%; withdrawal method fees |
This shows how the fee works, not what any account will earn.
Which platform pays out faster?
Fanvue publishes its rules: a seven-day standard pending period that can extend to 28 days, and an aim to start valid payouts within 10 business days. OnlyFans doesn't state pending periods in its terms; creators typically report around a week. In practice, both depend on verification status, payout method and risk checks.

Which platform has more fans?
OnlyFans, by a wide margin. Its operator's accounts for the year to 30 November 2025 reported 437.1 million registered fan accounts, around 132 million of them active, and $7.84 billion in fan payments. Fanvue doesn't publish comparable audited figures. A bigger audience helps with recognition, but most fans still arrive from your own promotion.
On either platform, fans don't usually stumble across you. Traffic comes from Reddit, X, Instagram, TikTok and other channels you control. Our guide to promoting OnlyFans on Reddit covers one of the biggest sources.
Is Fanvue better for AI creators?
Fanvue openly accommodates AI-generated creators, provided the content is clearly disclosed as AI-generated and follows its other policies. OnlyFans also allows AI-generated content, but only if it complies with its terms and is clearly captioned, for example with #ai or #AIGenerated. If your account is AI-led, read both platforms' current rules closely.
Whatever the platform, unlabelled AI content and AI images of real people without consent are where the serious risks lie, legally and for your account.
How do the content and verification rules compare?
Both platforms require creators to verify their identity and age, and both require proof of age and documented consent for anyone else who appears in your content. Both ban content involving anyone under 18 and other illegal material. The detail differs, so read each platform's acceptable use policy before moving content across.
Fanvue's published policies, for example, ban arranging in-person meetings with users and list age-baiting language such as "barely legal" among prohibited content. OnlyFans' co-authored content rules require other people in your content to be tagged creators or verified adults who have given written, informed consent. If you post on both, apply the stricter rule each time.
Is Fanvue or OnlyFans better for new creators?
It depends on your audience. If fans already know and trust OnlyFans, a familiar checkout can help conversions, which suits creators with an existing following. Fanvue may suit creators attracted by its promotional rates or AI policies. Many creators start on one platform and add the other later.
A quick decision guide:
- You have an existing audience that already uses OnlyFans: start on OnlyFans.
- You run an AI-led or AI-assisted account: compare both platforms' AI rules; Fanvue is built around disclosure.
- You want published payout timelines: Fanvue's policies are more explicit.
- You want the widest fan recognition: OnlyFans.
- You want to reduce dependence on one platform: consider both, with different content or offers.
Can you use Fanvue and OnlyFans at the same time?
Yes. Neither platform's terms we reviewed prohibits having accounts elsewhere, though any agency contract you've signed might. Running both means managing two inboxes, two content plans and two sets of payouts. Keep pricing consistent so fans don't feel penalised for choosing one platform.
If you work with an agency, check whether your contract includes an exclusivity clause before opening a second platform. At VANTA, creators keep ownership of their accounts and content on whichever platform they use.
Frequently asked questions

Is Fanvue legit?
Fanvue is operated by Shift Holdings Ltd and publishes its creator terms, payout policy and other policies. As with any platform, read the current terms, start with small payouts and keep records.
Can I move my subscribers from OnlyFans to Fanvue?
