OnlyFans Tracking Links: How to See Which Promotion Works
If you promote in more than one place, you need to know which places actually bring subscribers. Tracking links answer that question. They're simple to set up and they turn guesswork ("Reddit feels like it's working") into numbers you can act on. This post explains how to use them well.
Editorial note: Based on the VANTA team's experience measuring creator promotion. OnlyFans' help centre wasn't available to automated checks, so exact menu names and the statistics shown may differ in your account. General information only.
What are OnlyFans tracking links?
Tracking links are unique links to your OnlyFans page that you create in your account and share in a specific place. When someone clicks the link and subscribes, OnlyFans attributes them to that link. Comparing links shows which channels, posts or partners bring subscribers, and in many accounts how much those subscribers spend.
How do you set up tracking links?
Create one link for each place you promote, give each a clear name, and use only that link in that place. Typical names combine the platform and the campaign, such as "reddit-main" or "x-bio". Then replace the plain link to your page with the tracking link everywhere you promote.
A naming system that stays readable:
| Link name | Where it's used |
|---|---|
| reddit-profile | Your Reddit profile link |
| reddit-posts-oct | Links in Reddit posts during October |
| x-bio | Your X bio |
| x-pinned | Your pinned X post |
| shoutout-[partner] | A paid or swapped shoutout with one partner |
| trial-reddit | A free trial offered on Reddit |
Which numbers should you compare?
Compare subscribers per link, revenue from those subscribers, and how many of them renew. Clicks alone can mislead: a link with lots of clicks but few subscribers may be attracting the wrong audience. Revenue and renewals tell you which channels bring fans worth having.
Numbers to track for each link:
- Clicks (where shown).
- New subscribers.
- Revenue from those subscribers over the following weeks.
- How many renew after the first month.
- Time or money you spent on that channel.
How do you turn tracking data into decisions?
Every few weeks, rank your links by subscribers and revenue per hour or per pound or dollar spent. Put more effort into the top one or two, fix or test changes on the middle ones, and drop what consistently brings nothing. Re-check after changes so you can see whether they worked.
Illustrative example: over four weeks, Reddit brings 40 subscribers from about 10 hours of work, and X brings 8 from about 6 hours. Reddit delivers about 4 subscribers an hour, X about 1.3. Unless X subscribers spend far more, Reddit deserves most of next month's time. Numbers are illustrative.
Can you use tracking links for paid promotion and shoutouts?
Yes, and you should. Give every paid placement or shoutout partner its own link so you can see exactly what you got for your money. If a seller won't use your link, you can't judge the value. See our guide to paid OnlyFans promotion.
Do tracking links work with free trials?
Free trials have their own links, which you can treat the same way: one per channel or campaign. Compare how many trial fans become paying subscribers on each channel. Our guide to OnlyFans free trial links covers trials in detail.
How often should you review your tracking data?
Look at it weekly for a quick check and do a proper review every two to four weeks. Weekly checks catch broken links or sudden drops. Longer reviews smooth out random good and bad days, so you're making decisions on patterns rather than on one lucky post.
A review routine:
- Export or note subscribers and revenue per link for the period.
- Compare with the previous period.
- Note any changes you made, such as new communities or a price change.
- Decide on one or two changes for the next period.
- Retire links you no longer use so the list stays clean.
What are the limits of tracking links?
They only count people who click that specific link. Fans who see you on one platform and later search for you directly won't be attributed to that platform, and people who share your plain page link bypass tracking. Treat tracking data as a strong signal, not a perfect count.
How should an agency use tracking links?
An agency should set up links for every channel it manages, report results by link each month, and use the data to explain where effort is going. You should be able to see the same numbers in your own account. See what an agency should report each month.
Frequently asked questions
Are OnlyFans tracking links free?
Tracking links are a feature in the OnlyFans creator account, so there's no extra charge to create them.
How many tracking links can I make?
OnlyFans doesn't publish a limit in its terms. Make as many as you need to separate your main channels and campaigns, but keep the naming tidy so the data stays readable.
Can I use tracking links in my link-in-bio page?
Yes. Put a separate tracking link behind each button, or at least use a different link for each platform's bio, so you can tell which platform sent each subscriber.
Can tracking links show me who subscribed?
They show which link a subscriber came through. In your account you can see your subscribers, but use the data to improve promotion, not to identify fans outside the platform.
